Our facial is a family of skincare treatments for the face that may include steam, exfoliation, lotions, and facial masks. They are for general skin health as well as for specific skin conditions. All of our facials include a mini-massage of the face, head, neck, and shoulders for your relaxation..
Waxing is a form of semi-permanent hair removal which removes the hair from the root. New hair will not grow back in the previously waxed area for four to six weeks, although some people will start to see regrowth in only a week depending on the human hair growth cycle. Almost any body area can be waxed, including eyebrows, face, bikini area, legs, arms, back, abdomen, knuckles, and feet. Please note that we do not do pubic area waxing for men. Pricing is based on the area being treated and the amount of time for the treatment. Ask your Esthetician for pricing.
Reflexology, also known as Zone Therapy, is an alternative treatment involving application of pressure to the feet and hands with specific thumb, finger, and hand techniques without the use of oil or lotion unless requested. It is based on a pseudoscientific system of zones and reflex areas that purportedly reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands, with the premise that such work affects a physical change to the body. Acupressure is a therapy developed over 5,000 years ago as an important aspect of Asian, especially Chinese, medicine. It uses precise finger placement and pressure over specific points along the body. These points follow specific channels, known as Meridians, the same channels used in acupuncture. Moxibustion is a form of heat therapy. The intention is to warm and invigorate the flow of Qi (Life Force or Energy Flow) in the body and dispel certain pathogenic influences. In the U.S., the practitioners generally hold a burning Moxa stick close to the skin over specific areas often corresponding to certain acupressure points. Moxibustion is used to alleviate pain due to injury or arthritis, especially in “cold” patterns where the pain naturally feels better with the application of heat. Moxibustion may be used in conjunction with other treatments. At B.E., our experienced estheticians utilize a Moxibustion machine to target problem areas.
A scientific study was conducted on the effects of moxibustion therapy on chronic kidney disease. The findings of the study suggested that moxibustion treatment is an
excellent therapy for chronic kidney disease. Specifically, researchers found that moxibustion helped to
reduce
serum creatinine, which is responsible for poor kidney function in high doses.
Studies have shown that moxibustion may help minimize the frequency and the severity of hot flashes in postmenopausal women.
The estheticians at B.E. utilize indirect moxibustion. This means that the moxa does NOT come in direct contact with the skin. Enjoy the same great benefits without any pain!
Moxibustion can be used to help alleviate symptoms associated with:
Cupping therapy is a form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People receive this therapy for many purposes; including to help relieve pain and inflammation as well as to increase blood flow and to support relaxation and well-being. The cups may be made of glass, bamboo, earthenware, and silicone. Cupping therapy is certainly trending now, but it is not new. It dates back to ancient Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern cultures. One of the oldest medical textbooks in the world, the Ebers Papyrus, describes how the ancient Egyptians used Cupping Therapy in 1,550 B.C.
