Reflexology and Meridian Acupressure

Reflexology, also known as Zone Therapy, is an alternative treatment involving application of pressure to the feet and hands with specific thumb, finger, and hand techniques without the use of oil or lotion unless requested. It is based on a pseudoscientific system of zones and reflex areas that purportedly reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands, with the premise that such work affects a physical change to the body. Acupressure is a therapy developed over 5,000 years ago as an important aspect of Asian, especially Chinese, medicine. It uses precise finger placement and pressure over specific points along the body. These points follow specific channels, known as Meridians, the same channels used in acupuncture.
